May 2010

I'm sure ya'll will be happy to know that the Rosellison's are right back in the swing of things with every weekend in May filled by the beginning of April and most of June too. We just bring Radler along now!

The first weekend was mothers day. Mom and I Zumba'd, as it was "bring-your-daughter-to-Zumba-day" . We had a blast and sweated my little rear off. For those of you who don't know, Zumba is like Jazzercise to salsa. It's booty-bumpin' music and let me tell you, I looked ridiculous! Oh well. It was a great work out. Then we picked up Miss Radler and headed to The Fork for lunch, which is my new favorite restaurant in Bellingham. I've been actively pursuing them for work (because I love serving, not because I'm getting out of the mortgage business) and I think I landed it last night. Anyway, I digress. After lunch, we headed off to a number of nursery's in town and acquired plants for our gardens. It was really a lovely mothers day spent with three generations of women in my family. And that was just Saturday!! Sunday, Juddy made breakfast, surprised me with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a mocha from the market. What a way to start off the day! Then we headed up the Mount Baker Highway to look for rocks for mom's garden. We took a nice walk along the river and decided it's MUCH nicer to have Rad on our back's then in a front pack. You just feel more stable, like if you fall forward you won't crush your babies head!

The next weekend we visited Seattle to see my good friend Brynn and her mom Janet. Brynn and I went to Kindergarten together. For those of you who don't know the ever popular story, at our parent teacher conferences in Kindergarten both Brynn and I and one other girl's parents all got the same speech. "Well, academically they are fine. However there is something that I am concerned with. The girls have split the classroom into thirds and each deemed themselves in charge of "their" third at play time. They dictate the entire class, telling each child what they can do at play time. And then they go around and regulate "their" third to make sure the students are complying with their commands." Needless to say, our parents weren't that concerned (they figured they were raising management material) and Brynn and I have been friends ever since. We basked in the sunshine, enjoying a nice long walk along the water in Edmonds.

The third weekend of May we headed to Manzanita, Oregon to see Grandma Nae and family for a nice relaxing vacation on the beach. We voted not to drive 8 hours with a 5 month old in the car and instead opted for the train. It was FABULOUS and is definitely the preferred mode of travel from now on. Let's see, there are movies, a beverage cart, you see something besides the I-5 gauntlet, and you can attend to a crying baby rather than pulling over to feed or entertain. It IS the way to go.

So we took the train down and hung out for a few days in Manzanita.

We also hit up Short Sands which is personally my favorite surf spot in Oregon. Well, until last summer when they decided to no longer allow overnight camping there. However, the beach is a easy walk from 101 and an inlet so you can let the dogs loose to run from one end of the beach to the other. It's full of families, and surfers and dogs off leash. It also happened to be a GORGEOUS day which doesn't hurt things either. The next day Juddy headed back to Short Sands while us girls walked the beach in Manzanita. The roar of the waves, the wind, the endless beach...might have to make that an annual trip.

We cut the beach house short as Juddy's grandfather was failing and we wanted to make sure that Grandpa could see, or at least feel, Big Happy one last time. It was a sad note to the trip but at least Rad was in the room with her great grandfather before he passed and we were all able to whisper our good-byes.

By this time we're exhausted, so we took the following weekend off. Just kidding! We're an endless reserve of energy so we headed to our friends mother's house...scratch that...mansion. It's an amazing structure with impeccable design and on a cliff in Sequim overlooking the water. We laughed, hung out with good friends, drank wine and watched the sunset. Can't really complain about that!

Thanks to all our wonderful friends and family for the wonderful time in May!! WE love you and can't wait to spend more time with you!

Muah~ Love The Rosellison's
